calling william claxton fans

does anyone know more about this photo? I was flipping through an old Vogue -- September 2000 to be exact -- and found the photo above a news blurb about a traveling photography exhibit called "Framed: A Photo Retrospective" that apparently featured pix of Audrey Hepburn, Andy Warhol, and Catherine Deneuve in their favorite shades. This photo below was a part of the exhibit and, according to the article, was shot by William Claxton. I am kind of obsessed with it and am pretty much hating myself for not being cultured enough in the eleventh grade to have known about this show -- would have loved it. Aaanyywaay... just been searching the internet looking for a better version of the photo, and figured that since it was a William Claxton it would be viral. But, not so much. If anyone knows more, like if it has a name or if it was ever published in a book, I would really appreciate it!

inspiration today: into the woods

a sunny summer weekend sometimes calls for hitting the sticks and reacquainting oneself with nature. Of course, I'd prefer to do it like this girl in Adrien Caillaudaud moon shoes:

congrats Rodarte!

love how The Cut twittered the play-by-play of the CFDA Awards. I had one little encounter with the Mulleavys last year on this Halloween shoot for Bazaar. They're lovely! I remember strapping Caroline Trentini into those crazy -- what are they six-inch? -- spikey pumps that Louboutin did for the collection and literally having to act as her crutch to help her hobble over to the set. She goes, "How is anyone supposed to walk in these?!" I was like, "Honey, if you can't, we're all screwed." Those shoes were serious.

I also helped dress one other Rodarte look for the August issue. Yikes those tights!

Aaaah memories... anyway, so happy the girls won!

inspiration today: made by hand

I luckily got a chance to see the Valentino movie a couple of weeks ago at the Film Forum. Okay, I know it's old news but the film made an impact on me (and I didn't have a blog yet at the time). Sometimes, when the side effects of fashion land are really taking their toll and bitterness starts to sink in, it takes something special to remind me why I love all of this in the first place. Unfortunately, this particular brand of old-school is probably the last of its kind:

inspiration of the day

I have a bad habit of saving magazines. But, in the spirit of spring cleaning I am attempting to go through them and rip out any bits of inspiration before I toss them away.

Todays inspiration is very floral because I just can't wait for spring to get here...
