inspiration today: fashioning felt
happened upon an interesting exhibit this weekend. I love how well felt holds its shape - it makes me want to design a line of fabulous structured coats. Maybe next winter.

Inspired by these designers, I searched for more felt creations. I knew there must be something cool on Etsy:

made in america: t-bags
I've recently become interested in brands that are manufactured locally. From what I've learned, many of the smaller brands manufacture a majority of their clothing at home because they can keep a closer eye on quality control, there is a faster turnover, and they can save on shipping costs. Sometimes a certain kind of knit or trim needs to be outsourced because factories here do not have the capabilities or the prices are just too high. Still, the small support of the job market is much appreciated. These days I think it can't hurt to be a little more conscious of these types of things. If you've got the money to spend, make it count.
The first company that gets a shout-out is the Los Angeles brand, t-bags. Their bohemian, colorful, printed jersey dresses are unmistakable. Here are some of my favs from this season:

I luckily got a chance to see the Valentino movie a couple of weeks ago at the Film Forum. Okay, I know it's old news but the film made an impact on me (and I didn't have a blog yet at the time). Sometimes, when the side effects of fashion land are really taking their toll and bitterness starts to sink in, it takes something special to remind me why I love all of this in the first place. Unfortunately, this particular brand of old-school is probably the last of its kind:

inspiration of the day
I have a bad habit of saving magazines. But, in the spirit of spring cleaning I am attempting to go through them and rip out any bits of inspiration before I toss them away.
Todays inspiration is very floral because I just can't wait for spring to get here...

I know, another fashion blog...
just looking for a place to vent a little creativity. I spend a lot of time in the fashion industry, but I rarely get to make any contributions. I'm basically the girl on the floor sorting through a pile of cage boots or trying to conquer layers of wrinkled Dolce & Gabbana tulle with a leaky steamer.
Such is life.
Here I plan to post my "practice" fashion work -- like little trend pages that I make and other projects I give myself to keep up a few of my Photoshop skills -- as well as fuel my own personal online shopping addiction.
It's a start.
