I've recently become interested in brands that are manufactured locally. From what I've learned, many of the smaller brands manufacture a majority of their clothing at home because they can keep a closer eye on quality control, there is a faster turnover, and they can save on shipping costs. Sometimes a certain kind of knit or trim needs to be outsourced because factories here do not have the capabilities or the prices are just too high. Still, the small support of the job market is much appreciated. These days I think it can't hurt to be a little more conscious of these types of things. If you've got the money to spend, make it count.
The first company that gets a shout-out is the Los Angeles brand, t-bags. Their bohemian, colorful, printed jersey dresses are unmistakable. Here are some of my favs from this season:
